Beginners Course
We hold regular six week beginners courses throughout the year. The courses are very popular and are
taught by our helpful, experienced coaches. On completion of the course you may join the club and then
choose to continue shooting with us in the morning session or switch to the afternoon session with our
more experienced archers. We are a very friendly, social club and we welcome all ages and ability.
Start Dates for 2008
Provisional dates for 2008 are:
29th March, 31st May, 2nd August and 11th October.
"Places are allocated on a strictly first come first served basis according to the waiting list."
We operate a waiting list system and allocate places on courses according to the list. Currently there
is quite a wait for a place on a course but we do occasionally get last minute cancellations which are
offered to the whole list and we are hoping to be able to offer more options in 2008.
Times
The beginners courses take place during our regular Saturday morning session at the Royal Free
Recreation club in Hampstead. The lesson lasts from 11 to 1pm, this includes initial setting up
time
(which we all help with). We're generally up and shooting by 11.30 at the latest.
Who can attend our beginners course?
The course is limited to
Fourteen People and we have a very mixed intake which operates on a first
come-first served basis.
Junior archers can start with us from
Age 10 onwards. Juniors must have a designated responsible
adult with them at all times and we encourage parents or guardians to complete the course alongside
the junior (it's also much more fun that way).
Duration
The course is structured over six weeks. We strongly encourage you to complete all 6 lessons during
the scheduled course. If you miss any of the first three weeks of the course we will require you to
re-enrol on the next available course.
Course fees are non-refundable.
Price
The course costs
£60 for six lessons. To guarantee a place on the course we ask for
a non-refundable
deposit of £40. This covers the cost of the first three lessons. In order to continue on Week 4 - a
balancing payment of £20 must be paid.
N.B. The first three lessons are compulsory
- if any of these are missed we will require you to re-start the course at a future date when we have space
and pay a new deposit.
Equipment
We provide everything that you need to learn archery in the price of the course.
However, as we guarantee that the equipment is available for beginners we insist that club members
provide their own equipment. There are generally a couple of weeks between beginner courses where
club members will be happy to help and advise you about equipment.
The hall can be a bit cold in Winter so wrap up warm.
Not sure if its for you?
As well as our structured six week courses we also offer have-a-go sessions for those who aren't
sure about committing to a whole course. These also take place in the morning session (11 to 1pm) at
the Royal Free Recreation club in Hampstead and fall between our scheduled beginners courses.
Have a Go Days 2008
To Be Confirmed
The have-a-go days are designed for people unsure about committing to a full course.
